"Candice, 22, suffered terrible burns on her back and legs when her lady employer doused her with boiling water as she was bent over to pick up the lid of a thermos from the floor. This controversial and heart-wrenching case happened last May and was revealed through Facebook when a sympathetic relative decided to upload photos of the Filipino maid’s physical condition. A police investigation ensued, and “Candice” has since remained under the custody of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh. She is now appealing for help to return to her husband and two children in the province of North Cotabato, Mindanao. We followed up her case with the Philippine Embassy through an e-mail sent to Ambassador Ezzedin Tago. He replied with not-so-good news about the developments in the case."   Read full story

 "Here's good news for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Saudi capital who have always longed to fly home in a Philippine airline. Cebu Pacific, a Gokongwei-led budget airline, mounted its maiden flight to the Saudi capital starting on Wednesday. “Cebu Pacific will keep flying to where the Filipinos are,” said Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific's general manager for its long-haul division.

 He added that as “Cebu Pacific expands its operations in the Middle East, we are proud to offer even more Filipinos in the Kingdom the fastest, most affordable way to come home.” In a statement, the airline said that its thrice a week, non-stop flight departs Manila at 5:05 a.m. and arrives "

Jollibee Foods Corp. apologized to its customers on Thursday, after ChickenJoy and other items were unavailable in some branches in Metro Manila. In a statement, Jollibee Foods vice president for marketing Harvey Ong said a major systems upgrade was the main reason why a number of Jollibee stores in Metro Manila and nearby cities were operating on a limited menu. "Unfortunately, this change in system has initially affected the delivery schedule of raw materials from our commissary to select stores," he said. Ong clarified that there is no shortage of chicken."
