Rest Day Today

Rest Day Today

Good morning everybody!  Friday is a like Sunday here in Saudi Arabia.  Not like other Fridays that I used to go for biking around the city or along the bay.  But today I rather stay at home and do my laundry.  Cook my lunch and watching movies.  Of course chatting with my family.

Outside is so calm and quiet. I hope and pray that after this day it will be the same fine day. Have a nice day everyone. God bless us!

Words Of Wisdom

Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;

Prayers For OFWs Around the World

Prayers For OFWs Around the World

Dear God,

You crossed every border between divinity and humanity to make your home with us. Bless  our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters who have travelled to foreign lands with faith in their heart leaving their families behind as they break through the barriers of people, cultures, and languages to escape oppression and poverty.

There are many things going on that are beyond us even with our collective power. We come to thee in supplication and heartfelt pleadings as we are mindful of the ordeals of others.

We thank Thee for hearing the prayers of your people as China grant reprieve to our three OFWs and may the Chinese government grant a lesser penalty to their case.

We pray for the thousands of OFWs who were incarcerated and imprisoned in the Middle East, Asia and other continents, may Thou please grant them a new hope  and  freedom to return to their families to begin a new life as they entrust their lives into Thy hands. May Thou enlighten our leaders to put the plights of distressed OFWs as a priority and withdraw from plans of cutting the budget allocation for DFA's social service and legal assistance funds.

We pray to Thee that our OFWs in Taiwan will soon be relieved of the fears and uncertainties that haunts them on the current Taiwan-Philippines rift. May the government emissary would soon find an immediate resolution to this issue so that those more than five thousand scheduled for deployment will now be allowed to take on their jobs, and the nearly a hundred thousand currently employed may keep their jobs and be able to sustain their families.

We pray that may Thou please keep our overseas Filipinos safe in the escalating conflict in countries where democratic renaissance in Muslim nations is unfolding from Morocco, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Libya as they await the immediate repatriation efforts being taken by our government agencies and may their families in the Philippines be freed from fear and worries of their condition and that the OFWs safety is assured despite the worsening condition.

We pray that may Thou save from harm our Filipino workers in war torn countries of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as OFWs in Nigeria, Somalia, Lebanon and Jordan, who have taken great risks to continue their fight against poverty to support their families in the Philippines despite of the work deployment ban imposed in these countries.

We pray for the safety of the Filipino nurses trapped in the rubbles during the earthquake in New Zealand, and the rest of the OFWs and Expats around the world who are suffering from natural calamities, diseases and injustices that they may find comfort through faith in Thee.

Hear our prayer Lord, to end the corruption that plague of our nation, the poverty  and violence that displaces millions of our Filipinos from their homes, which separate and divide families.

As we await for the signs of time when the Filipinos around the world, the fathers and mothers brothers and sisters, and sons and daughters may be reunited as one happy family. that going abroad as an OFW is the least option. We pray for Thine tender love and kind mercy, with our faith, with our hope, with our love to thee, we pray for power greater than us all, we pray for divine intervention.

This is a joint call from the Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards, or PEBA, Inc, along with its 300+ KABLOGS, the RMN News Bantay OFW radio program and the Blas Ople Policy Center and we are asking for your prayers or support by reposting this to your blog, posting this link in your FB, Friendster and Twitter accounts or sending this as email to your networks.

Sick Leave Ako!

Sick Leave Ako!

Nagbalik ako kahapon for follow-up check-up.

Nagrecommend and aking Doctor ng Uric Acid, Creatinine, Total Cholesterol, HDL-Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Glucose test. After 30 minutes of waiting ay hindi naaprobahan ng aking insurance,BUPA, ang Uric Acid test. So I have to fast for 12 hours for the approved  test.

 Biogesic - Paracetamol

Teveten to control my blood pressure

Relaxon is for muscles relaxant and analgesic

 Mucolytic is for my ubo

Rofenac for Antirheumatic, Anti-inflamatory and analgesic

Voltaren for Antirheumatic, Anti-inflamatory and analgesic

Clara Loratadine for Antihistamine

Words of wisdom

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds … Great is our Lord, and mighty in power …” (Psalm 147:3)

Prayer Request Para Sa Pinakamamahal Nanay Namin

Prayer Request Para Sa Pinakamamahal Nanay Namin

“Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggle we experiencing --
the pain and the despair. You know the desire of our heart to be healed
of this illness. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that
You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal us.
“we also understand that You will chose what is best for us.
we pray that through this trial, we will draw close to You --
that You will be our comfort and strength. we pray that ultimately,
whatever happens, You will be glorified through us. I pray this in Jesus’ name,
 amen.”

Nanay Angelita is my mother in law.

She was advised to have a CTscan to verify  kung ano ang status ng bukol na yun.

One of the doctors advice to have another CTscan, with a specific instruction. She recommended sa De Los Santos Hospital. According to her  the equipment is accurate and precise. Although it is costly but we have to do anything just for her.

For the meantime we are praying na maging negative ang result ng CTscan.

I request for your prayer para sa complete healing aking Mother in Law. I believe that walang imposible sa Panginoon.

The First Man In My Life

The First Man In My Life
By:MLK

What is a Father?

The definition will depend on each of our story about them. A Father is like my Dad. 80% of his influence and principle in life had marked my personality. I was so much like him in all aspect. Persistence- high aimed-finisher. I have so much memories of time spent with him more than I have with Mom. He used to take me to sleep and be the first one to wake me up in the morning. He kissed me goodnight to sleep and carry me to bed. I remember of faking my sleep just to be carried by him. I just love his arms wrapping my body and feel the security it brings to me. I couldn’t forget how he sings for me before I sleep and during my birthdays. He loves to sing for me and my Mom. My Dad had a good voice and it was a regret of not inheriting that gift from him.

My Dad used to bring me with him in all his construction projects. We slept most in their project site quarters and as young as I am, I have earlier exposure to various building construction. I witnessed the construction of U.P Los Banos, the Lourdes Hospital in Mandaluyong, The Folk Arts Theatre which project was pioneered by the former First Lady. It was built to accommodate the first hosting of Miss Universe Pageant. My dad was one of the hundreds of workers involve in building that landmark. There are many others, the Westin Plaza Hotel, The New World Hotel in Makati, The Twin Tower Makati, The Greenbelt Park which use to house the Quad Cinema, the Makati Square Cinema, Fil-invest Alabang, Gerry's Grill in Greenhills, Chilis and Superbowl etc,. etc.

My Dad experiences with construction projects gave me the nerve to enter university and take Architecture degree. Not much of my liking but more of his desire and dream. Being the eldest of the two siblings, I have ventured out to do his divine will. My Fathers will. My calling to become an Architect is not as much as my Father's calling to have an architect daughter. I gave way because of his strictness and determination that I will be the one to deliver us from poverty.

He succeeded to my amazement and going back to where my family used to be, I could say, we progress better. I used to contradict his agenda. That’s me. I did get it from him, my mom confirmed it. Truly that once you get educated, your intellect by- passes of that our parents level of knowledge. And that’s where the bickering and misunderstanding started. My will or my Dad's will. But my Dad was someone I couldn’t ignore.

He had suffered many sacrificial acts for the good of his family. He travelled so far with great distance from us. For 20 years he was separated from us, working in different places just to make our education fulfilled. After 20 years, I hardly know him. He became a stranger to us. His absence in our childhood days made a bad impact in our growing up. He was able to miss out the very important events and difficulties we have experienced in our adolescence years. He was not there when we graduated from Elementary and High School. He was not there when my brother started to get interested with girls. He was not there when I received my diploma with a degree that he desired long time for me. He was not with us to celebrate those remarkable endings of my school years, my jubilations that I indeed leaped from what I used to be. I have missed him to the most important event in my life.

Of course, he ended up and get tire up being a contract worker. Immediately, after my brother finished his degree, my Dad went home for good. He looked at us like we are his colleagues in Saudi. He takes care of himself more than he takes care of us. His psychological situation deranged him from us. It took us two years to adjust with him and him from us. Mom entered us into a therapy with Dad. We went back to zero.

And how is that? We have to make Dad feel that we are his children. We bring slipper upon his arrival at home. We gave him towel and wipe his back when he perspires. We kissed him goodbye to work and welcome him with a hug after his work. We prepared his dinner and told him stories about our day. We ask for his advice and his approval to things that pertains to our personal problems. It happened in my 21th year. My Dad never asked anything from me when I began working, but Mom insisted us to spend time with him. We have time to go out as a family and treated them over dinner or lunch. I became close again with my Dad and spend much time building our dreams together. Whenever he planned on something, we would have a family meeting. There will be discussions and exchange of ideas. Since, my Dad is a very responsible man, we never question his plan because it is always for the better of us and whatever he plans; we saw it fulfilled.

My admiration and respect for my Dad have grown high that even he didn’t reached my level of education, his wisdom was well acknowledge. He had even bigger salary than us. Enough that even I don’t work, we'll be okay. He had plenty of connection and well-of friends. He was very popular in his work and eventually in our subdivision. My Dad was well-respected by many people in variety.

But one day, He fell and went into sin. Once again, it marked my life with many impacts. I couldn’t follow his footsteps any longer. He lost everything when he followed his own sin. He lost his job, the trust of other people who look upon him, He made a big hole in my umbrella. A hole that stained his integrity and I was the first one to get devastated. There was so much pain and yet I wanted to give him a chance to come back and prove his worth again. I wanted to build bridges so that he could return safely back to us without looking back at the jammed he went through with.

But I'm hoping one day…praying so much that one day.. I will see him back with his normal self. It has been two years now since he fell to the enemy's trap and he is not asking for any help. He doesn’t want my help and even God's grace and mercy. He was totally being complacent to the new world that he was living now. He doesn’t know how much I missed him so much. He doesn’t know that it affected me so much that I lose the sight of the shore with this perfect storm he brought our family in. He used to be the path I am following with, but now I have stopped walking behind him.

The outlook changed the way I looked at marriage. I began to drop all my expectations. The growth started to slow down. He will not be able to read this, I'm sure. But I wanted to tell him, that I couldn’t forget him and that I still love him so much. There were no days and nights that I didn’t cry to God to ask for a miracle; to awaken my Dad from his worst nightmare " Dad, whoever you are with, I have spare a space in my heart for understanding you, though you love them now more than you have loved us, though it cuts like a knife for me and Mom, just don’t forget to take a peek on what we had before as a family.

Bring your memory back to us. Memories I'm keeping dearly within my heart because now it’s the only thing that connects you and me." I missed you so much Daddy. Please find the lost shore for me.
Happy Fathers Day.

*********************

I would like to thank MLK to allow me to share her life story. I hope that one day a house become a home again, in God's perfect time. Let not time and place bewildered our relationship. Let the Lord be the center of our family.

Kulungan na Walang Rehas Sa Gitnang Silangan

Kulungan na Walang Rehas Sa Gitnang Silangan
Life Story: By Bobot P. Erpelo – Jan 6, 2010 – SA)

Angels Are Around Us

Angels Are Around Us

Life Story: By Jeff

I am new driver then, having just learned to drive out of necessity as I am starting my own family. I got an old third hand car, a Mitsubishi Galant Sigma, which is more than fifteen years old at the time I got it. Being a new driver, I am weary of traffic cops; those MMDA personnel and Police type. I am afraid that I would somehow make a mistake and get a ticket due to some traffic incident.

One day. I traversed the Makati Ave route and took to Kalayaan Ave. Crossing Kalayaan Ave I did not notice an open manhole in the middle of the street. Unluckily as I passed by the manhole, my rear left wheel got stuck inside the manhole. Imagine my dismay as I step on the gas and the car does not move. To make it worse the opposite traffic is now coming and cars started to honk their horns. I almost melted when I saw two MMDA traffic officers on the street corner at Makati Ave.

Thinking to myself, they would notice me soon and possibly give me a ticket for being in the middle of the road. As I sweat inside the car not knowing what to do, I thought out load "God help me". After saying those words, two men in dark t-shirt and jeans came walking up from the side street of Kalayaan Ave and came up to my car. Without saying a word, the two men lifted my rear end holding on the tire well and bumper. That did it, I got unstuck and I was able to move forward. As I turned around to say thank you, the two men are across the street going to P. Burgos side, far away from even a shouted Thank you. Wow, I said to myself, these two men must be angels. Thanks for helping a person out.

The Key

The Key

Life Story: By Jeff

After a day's work, my colleagues dropped by the place I was staying in Cavite. We normally end a days work past 8 pm and this was no different. As a normal visit by friends and colleagues, we had a short round table discussion about work and projects with San Miguel Lights, juice and crackers. When we finished, it was almost ten pm, so I had to drive the guys out of the subdivision to the nearest transport hub. I told the maid that I will be back after bringing the guys to where they can take a jeepney. I was out of the house for possibly 15 minutes only, and when I got back the help had already closed the living room lights and locked the door. To my dismay, I left my house keys inside my room. I knocked and knocked but to no avail. I dared not knock too loud as to disrupt the whole street. I knocked intermittently on the door and windows, shouting "Manang" while doing so to no avail. I was resigned to sleep outside, when I remembered that maybe Jo, a friend of the help knows the cell number of Manang so I can call her. Murphy must be up that night since Jo confirmed that Manang has no cell phone.

I made myself comfortable on the bench press' bench using my jacket as a pillow. While trying to rest and accept my fate, I said my prayers, starting with the Our Lord's prayer and adding intercession to keep me safe that night. On my second Hail Mary my cell buzzed with an SMS message. It was Jo with a message on how I can possibly open the door. She gave me the instructions while I was talking to her on her cell. Lo and behold, I was able to open the door and get in. This just shows that prayers do work.

A Love That Conquers Death - Rudy & Lorna

A Love That Conquers Death - Rudy & Lorna
Life Story: Lorna Tolentino & Rudy Fernandez (from Isze)

“My mom and dad’s love story is made in heaven,” said Renz Marion Fernandez, the youngest son of actress Lorna Tolentino and the late actor Rudy Fernandez. “It’s like they were really meant for each other no matter what. They didn’t know [early on] that they would end up as husband and wife, although they knew each other from the start.” Renz is very proud he’s the product of the love affair.

Rudy and Lorna met very early in their careers. During the early 1970s, Rudy had just been re-launched as a matinee idol; before that, he was a child performer earlier in the 1960s and then a young star in his teens, along with such teeny-boppers as Nora Aunor, Tirso Cruz III, Vilma Santos, Edgar Mortiz, Eddie Peregrina, Millie Mercado, Esperanza Fabon and others. Lorna, on the other hand, had just been launched obligingly in a solo semi-mature role in an independently produced movie called “Lagot Ka…Leap Year Ngayon, Pipikutin Kita”. She was also a child actress previously, and she was cast in such weepy fares as “Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit” and “Divina Gracia” where she played the young Susan Roces. Both Rudy and Lorna were cast in “Lagot Ka” but he was then paired with Edna Diaz as love team.

Lorna managed to catch Rudy’s eye—although she was 10 years younger—with her signature mole dotted just above her upper lip, thick curly hair, smiling eyes, milky skin, and bedimpled smile. He found Lorna’s naivete and youth to appealing to resist. “Hihintayin kong lumaki ka, ha (I will wait for you till you’re all grow up, okay),” Rudy said. Was he just teasing his young co-star? Still, the path that would bring Rudy and Lorna together was a circuitous one. “Lagot Ka” was finally released in theaters but the two stars’ paths did not cross again for a long time.

Rudy was living well as a bachelor and, after a series of flings, he found his first reel and real serious relationship in Alma Moreno. They lived together back when living-in was still just catching on as a social arrangement among lovers. Eventually, a child was born out of the five-year relationship between Rudy and Alma. That child, named Mark Anthony Fernandez, is now a film and television actor as well. Her relationship with Rudy ended, Alma and Mark left their Derby digs in White Plains in Quezon City, and stayed temporarily in an apartment in Ortigas, adjacent to Avalon condominium.

Eventually, Alma would end up with comedy king Dolphy. They lived together in Greenhills. She would bear Dolphy a son, Vandolph. Rudy and Alma continued to shar custody of Mark Anthony. The former couple never re-kindled their lost romance, but father and son would spend bonding time together.

It would be in 1979 when Rudy and Lorna would be cast together in a film. According to veteran movie writer Chito P. Alcid, that movie, “Star” for Agrix Films, kindled something between the two actors. In that same year, Rudy and Alma ended their relationship. In 1980,

Rudy and Lorna were paired together in an adult horror-drama film called “Sa Init ng Apoy”. Eventually, Rudy began sending flowers, love notes and chocolates to Lorna, much to the excitement of the production people on the set. Director Romy Suzara was even a bridge to the impending closeness of his lead stars. Alcid said that Rudy frequently visited Lorna whenever she was at the Beauty Express Salon in Haig Street in Mandaluyong City which was where the actress had her hair and face done.

The two went to Hong Kong by themselves secretively, said Alcid. The story of the romance between Rudy and Lorna eventually made it to the tabloids. The entertainment press pounced on the story with much gusto: the pairing between Rudy and Lorna was too juicy and too controversial—especially because Lorna and Alma by then were rivals in the sexy film genre (called “bold films” in local parlance).

Soon after filming, Lorna and Rudy came out officially as true-to-life sweethearts. Naturally, this beefed up the promotions of their first film as partners. In the course of their work, Rudy and Lorna kept their relationship private and they were paired with other stars. “Somewhere” They did a movie together again, “Somewhere” in 1983, which galvanized their commitment to each other. Although the tone of the project was dramatic, it was an action caper first and foremost. Eventually, “Somewhere” became Rudy’s and Lorna’s personal theme song, to comemorate not only their relationship but their successful screen team-up as well. Like any other couple, Rudy and Lorna went through trials and difficulties in their relationship. Lorna’s circle of close friends included actresses Amy Austria, Beth Bautista, Deborah Sun, Gina Alajar and Sandy Andolong.

Both that friendship as well as the relationship between Rudy and Lorna were tested when rumors started about Beth Bautista. According to the rumor, Rudy was getting attracted to Beth Bautista. This resulted in a “faithfulness check” amongst Lorna’s friends. On June 1, 1983 Rudy and Lorna entered a civil marriage. Ten years later, they renewed those vows a church wedding at Villa Escudero in Tiaong, Quezon Province.

Other trials began, particularly nasty intrigues spreading through the entertainment press. Rudy was linked to various othe women, including a GRO and even sexy actress Rosanna Roces, who was his co-star in a short lived TV sitcom. Even then young actress Donita Rose was dragged into the controversy. Another nasty rumor began spreading: that Lorna was really gay and that she was involved with another woman. And yet, Rudy and Lorna’s marriage survived all these.

Until the fatal ailment struck Rudy and then the couple proved to everyone, once and for all, how strong their love for one another was—as Rudy struggled with his illness, the only person who was always there for him, practically very minute of the day, even as he sought treatments here and abroad, was Lorna.

After Rudy’s death on June 7, people who saw Lorna in person and on television admired her courage and composure amid her greatest tragedy. And yet, Lorna also shared her grief and her last moments with Rudy in an interview with The Buzz on Sunday—less than 48 hours after he died. Moving on Lorna knows that eventually, she would have to get over her denial and truly accept the fact of Rudy’s death. She has decided to immediately go back to her family home, instead of staying at a hotel first after Rudy’s burial, as some friends suggested.

“Pause na muna ako for a while pero dito lang,” Lorna told actress-host Kris Aquino during a live special episode of ABS-CBN’s morning show “Boy & Kris” entitled “Paalam Daboy” held at Heritage Park Hotel in Taguig, June 12, Thursday morning. In the interview Lorna thanked God for giving her the time to be husband Rudy. Pinahiram siya sa akin so, nagpapasalamat ako doon,” she said.

Even if it was really a tough journey nandiyan sila,” the actress added. Though Lorna is struggling to accept that her husband is now with God, she said that in heart there still remained a small hope that God would reverse everything that happened and giver her back Rudy who was the love of her life. “Minsan iniisip ko parang can I take it back, kumbaga ‘Lord sinabi kong okay na pero pwede bang baguhin alam mo,’ yon, ang dami, mix emotions talaga,” she said.

She also thanked all the Filipino fans who prayed for Rudy, saying that Filipinos of all religious faiths and affiliations came together in prayer for his sake. Truly, Lorna embodies the supreme sacrifice a wife could possibly endure for her husband—staying by his side in sickness and in health, right unto their parting at his death. However, Lorna said something in her eulogy to Rudy, which she delivered the night before his burial; it was a statement full of love, longing and devotion. Lorna had looked at Rudy in his coffin and said, “Please wait for me. I know we will be together.” If the dead ever cried tears in heaven, then Rudy must have wept for joy among the angels..

Prayer for Z Gorres "The Dream"

Prayer for Z Gorres "The Dream"

ZC Oliveros "The Dream" Gorres.

Update as of Nov 16: Z Gorres showing signs of recovery after the operation.
