Jesus died on the cross. Jesus was nailed on the cross. Yes, He was nailed. How many of you have taken injection shots? Do you remember the feeling of pain that comes with a very thin needle? That also is taken away within few seconds. Now imagine getting hit with a nail and the nail crossing your palm, a thick nail and you are left to bleed. Now imagine the pain.

Pain, intense pain, yes, death by intense pain and Jesus died with that. By laws of science, I don't know how much of His weight was taken by His palms, but even if the weight taken was a fraction of his body weight, the pain would been much more. And Jesus died on the cross, bearing his own weight with his palms, bleeding. Left to bleed in the afternoon sun.

Good Friday was the day He died. I read somewhere that earlier it was called God Friday. And He resurrected on Easter Sunday. If one goes through the work and the teachings of Jesus, one finds nothing but selfless giving and miraculous cures. Jesus could cure miraculously because He was Son of God. But did He enjoy any material comforts? Any pleasures? His life is nothing but a chronicle of a man who suffered, but took away sufferings of others. Even His death was a very painful death.

What does Jesus' life teach us? It teaches us not to give suffering to others but take it ourselves. It teaches us to comfort others. It teaches us selfless giving. It teaches us to forgive even if extreme pain is inflicted upon us. It teaches us to love all and hate none.

Let us celebrate Easter Sunday. Let us remember the teachings of Jesus Christ. Let us spread peace in the world. Let us start giving selflessly. Let us live selflessly. Let us all spread goodness, happiness and cheer in the world. Let us all work to remove hatred and vice from this world.

Lent is the period of 40 days of fasting that is preceding Easter. Often this 40 day period is paralleled with the story of Jesus being in the desert for 40 days being tempted by the devil. (Matthew 4:1-11) and this is the reading for the first Sunday of Lent to remind us of that parallel. Originally Lent was no more than a word used for the Spring Season, similar to Autumn being referred to as fall. But in Modern time its a period for fasting, prayer and alms giving. The 40 days in the Catholic Church are 40 days not counting Sundays.

Lent has become a period to prepare you heart for the Easter Season. You are to do this though prayer and penance and almsgiving. On a personal note I have to say i particularly like the Ash Wednesday reading that explains that when you fast don't wear it on your sleeve so everyone knows. When you pray don't pray on the street corner pray in the privacy of your own home and God will take care of you. I think this is a powerful message and it is always a great reminder (Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18) to start of Lent in how we are commissioned to act and react.

Lent runs though Holy week starting with Palm Sunday, and the commemoration of Jesus triumphant return to Jerusalem all the way though his passion, crucifixion and then the glorious celebration of His Resurrection. The Sacred Triduum is among the highest holy days of the year take place at the end of the Lenten season and the Easter Sunday. They are Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

The Last Supper

On Maundy Thursday, it is the commemoration of the Last Supper including the washing of feet. And most importantly during Holy Thursday Mass, all the hosts are blessed which will be used all the way though Easter Vigil. There are no masses celebrated on Good Friday and what is most fascinating about this is that the Holy Thursday mass does not end. It is left opened and finalized until the end of Good Friday Services. This is one of the most special times in the church and everyone should make a point to participate in all three days. It is steeped in tradition and a great way to end the Lenten Season.

Palm Sunday Around the Globe

Palm Sunday is Christian observance which is celebrated around the world, though many Christian denominations. In 1970 the Roman Catholic Church changed the formal name of Palm Sunday to Passion Sunday, from the Second Sunday of the Passion. However it was very confusing because the Second Passion Sunday was assigned to the 5th Sunday in Lent. So they again changed ti to Palm Sunday of our Lord's Passion.

Now know as Palm Sunday, Roman Catholic Churches as well their Protestant brethren , have the palms being bless in a few different ways. First is the congregation gather outside the church with their unblessed palm in hand. The priest starts the service with the palms being sprinkled with holy water most often using an aspergillum, which most Catholics will recognize as the vessel used while holy water is dispersed on a crowd. The Priest walks though the crowd as the congregation holds up their palms so that they may be bless. After the opening part of the service is completed the congregation processes inside usually in song, by way of reenacting Jesus' entry to Jerusalem, where the Jews sang the Psalm 118 and threw palms on the ground making Jesus' path more comfortable. In the Lutheran church, the service is very close to the Catholic Service minus the holy water.

The entry procession may vary for each religion. The procession may consist of the Priest or Minister. The choir may also be part of the procession. The children of the parish are often in the procession as well and there may also be the entire congregation gathered outside as well. In India the procession is a little different there they cover the sanctuary with marigolds and the congregation processes though the church.

At the end, all the left over palms are saved and burned the following year as part of the the Ash Wednesday service. The Roman Catholics do consider the palms to be sacramentals or object that are set apart and blessed within the church. They are treated with same reverence any blessed item would be treated with. Other uniform items thought the church are the blood red vestments and décor thought the church. The Red is symbolic of blood and a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus made to redeem the world.

In the Eastern Orthodox church Palm Sunday, or as they call it the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, and they consider it among their list of the 12 great feasts of the liturgical year. And of course, it is also the start of Holy Week in all Christian faiths. Unlike the other Christian sects, Palm Sunday is not part of Lent. In the eastern orthodox Tradition Lent ends on Friday, then there is Lazarus Saturday, the remembrance of Lazarus rising from the dead. On the Saturday before, the congregation spends their time making the palms into crosses. However in the Mexican culture palms are also used to make crosses and statues. They are at times used in the actual opening procession.

Other customs that differ are Russian Orthodox who use pussy willows because of the they were hard to find that far north. Some Orthodox churches will also use olive branches.

Although there are many different customs out there, the center point of it all is the same. This day commemorate the day Jesus arrived in Jerusalem and it begins the week that lead to his passion, death and Resurrection.

If you think you know what your child is doing on the internet, you may want to think again.

Karen Berry's job was to work with kids who had been molested. She had all the proper training and she knew all the signs.

So before her son was allowed to use the internet, she purchased all the popular internet protection software. She checked on him frequently.

So how did her son end up as a victim of sexual abuse?

It all started quite simply. At 13, Justin Berry was a normal kid. He wasn't very popular and he was concerned about fitting in.

His internet provider sent him a free webcam for using their service. He placed a photo online in the hopes of finding a girlfriend.

Instead, he was flooded with inquiries from older men. At first, the requests were simple. One man offered to send him $50 bucks if he would take his shirt off. From there, everything went downhill.

Eventually, Justin Berry was stripping naked, masturbating and even having sex with female prostitutes in front of his webcam.

One man even tricked Justin's mom into sending Justin to a computer camp. When Justin arrived at the computer camp, the older man picked him up, took him home and molested him several times.

NOT an isolated incident

Authorities estimated that 1 in 5 children have been approached by online predators. And even the most vigilante parents can't protect their children 100% of the time.

Consider the case of Katherine Tarbox. At 14, she was at the top of her class. And she was molested by an online predator who she'd been communicating with for over 6 months.

The online predator never mentioned sex during their chat sessions. He played her confidant and friend, slowly winning her trust.

Turns out, Katherine was going to bed very early in order to wake up early and chat with this online predator first thing in the morning.

This serves as a prime example that you can't always be available to monitor your kids.

So what can you do? You can't always be there in person. Traditional internet protection software only blocks harmful websites and does NOT prevent online predators from contacting and chatting with your child.

To truly protect your child, you've got to be 100% aware of everything that your child is doing online. And the only way to do that is to fight fire with fire.

Some parents might not like the idea of knowing exactly what websites your child visits, knowing exactly what's being said during chat sessions and knowing exactly what emails are being sent.

But for those parents who do want to know and believe it's vitally important to stay 100% aware, there are now companies that offer sophisticated computer monitoring. This allows parents to be 100% aware of what their kids are doing online at all times.
