Rick Warren Prayer During the Inaugural

I have receive an email from our school group. It is all about Warren prayer. The message is very inspiring so I would like to share with you all.

Rick Warren Prayer During the Inaugural

Rick Warren author ofthe Purpose Driven Life. He said the prayer during the inaugural ceremony of Barack Obama as President of U.S.
Rick Warren

You will enjoy the new insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. 'Purpose Driven Life ' author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California. In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:
"People ask me, What is the purpose of life?"

And I respond: "In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body - but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity.

We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense..
Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort; God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems: If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is my problem, my issues, my pain. But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her - it has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.

Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease.

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.

Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.
That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.
Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.

What Has Obama Promised Fathers and Families?

What Has Obama Promised Fathers and Families?

There has been a lot of talk lately about President-elect Barack Obama's role as a father, including analysis of his parenting skills, discussion of the family's house rules and comparisons with other famous presidential dads - such as JFK.

But what does Obama's presidency mean to the average father? It may be too soon to know exactly, but we can look at the promises that his campaign made during the run-up to the election to get a better idea about the values and parenting advice he supports.

Specifically, the Obama/Biden campaign proposed reintroducing the Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families Act. This legislation was first suggested by Obama and Senator Evan Bayh in 2007.

The act promises to remove some of the government penalties on married families, crack down on men avoiding child support payments, make sure these payments go to families instead of the state, fund support services for fathers and their families, and support the prevention of domestic violence.

"As fathers, we need to teach our boys what makes you a man is not just having a child, it's having the courage to raise a child," Obama said, commenting on the legislation. "This legislation will provide support for fathers who are trying to do the right thing."

This support would take the form of job training, employment opportunities and an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Obama also strongly believes that fathers should develop their parenting skills and be a part of their kids' lives.

In his widely discussed Father's Day speech of 2008, the then-senator raised concerns that "too many" dads are "missing from too many lives and too many homes."

His parenting advice focused on how creating strong family foundations can produce building blocks for an even stronger society.

In other words: Dads, your parenting skills really do make a difference - not just for your own kids, but for the larger world.

The Super Natural Word of God

The Super Natural Word of God

BY: Leck Egar

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What are the Five Fold Ways of responding the Word of God?

1. Hearing : Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing (logos) and hearing (rhema) the words of God (KJV

2. Reading: Deuteronomy 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn the fear of the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statues, to do them. Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave them the sense, and caused them to understand the reading

3. Writing: Deuteronomy 10:2 and I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou broken . and thou shall put them in the ark. God commanded John the Beloved to write what heard and sees, Rev. 1:11, 19; 2:1, 8, 12,18 etc. WHY? John 10:10 the thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy ; I am come that they might have life , and they might have it more abundantly. Luke 8:11&12 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are they that hear : then cometh the devil; and take away the word out of their hearts; lest they should believe and be saved.

4. Meditating: Joshua 1:8 do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate it day and night, so that you may do what is written on it; then you will become prosperous and successful.

5. Applying: James 1:22 -25 22 but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer , he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he behold himself, and get his way, and straight way forget what manner of man he was. 25 But who so looked into the perfect law of liberty , and continued therein , he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Hatton Vs Pacquiao - The Fight Will Not Happen After All!

Hatton Vs Pacquiao - The Fight Will Not Happen After All!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Luke_W_Calvert]Luke W Calvert

Since Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao put on a master class in beating the Golden Boy of boxing Oscar De La Hoya on December 6th, it seemed inevitable who Pacquiao would take on next. Britain's Ricky Hatton had already lined up a summer spectacular against Oscar De La Hoya, who was widely expected to beat the smaller Pacquiao.

Everyone expected Pacquiao to fill that void and take on Hatton instead. After all it was a match that made much more sense; both fighters preferred weight at this time is the light welterweight limit of 140lbs and their aggressive styles seemed to ensure a fabulous contest. Negotiations between both camps initially appeared to be going smoothly with some rumours a verbal 50/50 deal was agreed. A May 2 date was mooted and Las Vegas appeared to have won the bidding to stage this fantastic matchup between two of the most exciting and well supported boxers in the sport of boxing.

Alas, it was not to be. Today, it was officially announced - crucially from parties on both sides of the negotiations - that the May 2 fight was now off and both fighters were looking at other options. For the sport of boxing this is undoubtedly a huge blow. With UFC gaining popularity, boxing needs to make these big fights happen to keep it's lead over the MMA franchise, which seems to continually be gaining momentum. Fights like Pacquiao vs. Hatton are also the sort of fights that boxing needs to attract new fans; this would have seen both fighters in their prime, in a real pick 'em fight rather than the usual tirade of a young unbeaten champion against an experienced but limited opponent.

So both fighters now go away in search of new opposition and quite who they will fight next is anyone's guess. Both fighters are rumoured to have been in talks with the come backing Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya is reported to still want to box Hatton in front of a monster crowd in England. Hatton could also take on the winner of the forthcoming Juan Diaz vs. Juan Manuel Marquez match up (scheduled for 28 February).

For Pacquiao a fight with Mayweather Jr. would be something to treasure, two fighters at the peak of their powers in a genuine super fight. Alternatively, Pacquiao would need a to step back up to 147lbs for another super fight, perhaps taking on the winner of this weekend's Margarito vs. Mosley fight . Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto could be another man in the frame if he can beat Michael Jennings in his comeback fight next month.

So, boxing politics and ultimately, money, have seen another tremendous fight slip through fight fans hands. We can now only hope that the Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight does happen at some point, even if it is later rather than sooner!

The Story of Manny Pacquiao

The Story of Manny Pacquiao
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carlos_Caicedo]Carlos Caicedo

The Story of Manny Pacquiao begins in General Santos City, Philippines. He was born on December 17th, 1978. We can't begin telling the story of Manny Pacquiao without examining the hard life of Manny Pacquiao. He was born into devastating poverty and was forced to work at a very young age after his father left the family for another woman.

Manny Pacquiao worked in the hardcore streets of General Santos City selling breads and other bakery goods. Those same streets helped in the development of the tough and relentless individual we see in the ring today. Also known as Pacman do to the way he gobbles up his rivals in the ring, Manny began fighting for a few dollars in the streets. These fights were brutal but soon Manny Pacquiao gained a reputation for being a very tough fighter, and showing incredible grit and determination when fighting opponents that were much larger than him. Even at a young age Manny displayed the speed and left handed power that has made him one of the most exciting boxers of his era.

Manny Pacquiao's mother however was not a fan. She was very religious and had hoped her son would join the priesthood. Manny's popularity increased around the city and people began taking notice of this scrawny kid with a hammer for a left hand. Without permission Manny set off to Manila to pursue his career with hopes of becoming a star in order to help his mother and family.

The story of Manny Pacquiao was still far from a fairy tale. His time in Manila was not easy. He trained for hours and had to work just as hard to earn a living. Manny worked in construction and also in the gym where he trained doing odd jobs which included janitor. Manny was undeterred and reeled of an eleven fight winning streak before tasting defeat for the very first time in 1996 vs Rustico Torrecampo who knocked Manny Pacquiao out. This was a devastating loss for Manny. The life of Manny Pacquiao could have taken a different turn after this period. He considered quitting boxing and going back home. The thoughts of going back as a failure and to continued and never ending poverty re-ignited Pacman to fight again.

He set off on another winning streak and defeated the WBC flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul in 1998. Finally Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao had reached one of his goals and it seemed his career was about to take off. He successfully defended his crown in the very next fight but his stint as flyweight champion was short lived as he got knocked out by Medgoen Singsurat in his second title defense. Another set back in the story of Manny Pacquiao. Disappointed but undaunted Manny continued training in hopes of another big fight and opportunity.

Manny received that opportunity in June of 2001 when he faced IBF Bantamweight Champion Lehlohonolo Ledwaba. Manny fought and impressive fight, knocking out the tough champion in the sixth round. Winning the IBF belt in Las Vegas in such impressive fashion opened a lot of doors for Manny Pacquiao in the United States which is undeniably the largest boxing market in the world. Manny Pacquiao defended his title until 2003 when he gave it up and moved to a higher weight class which included the likes of Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez, three Mexican legends. He avenged a loss versus Morales and beat him in the third match which sent the great Morales into retirement. He fought and destroyed Barrera and then faced Juan Manuel Marquez in a truly exciting bout. Marques was dropped three times in the first round and fought valiantly to get a draw. In the rematch Pacquiao was awarded what many considered a controversial win.

The story of Manny Pacquiao continues as he faces his toughest opponent on December 6, 2008 in Las Vegas. He will be facing Oscar De La Hoya and will be fighting at 147 pounds. It remains to be seen if Manny Pacquiao made a wise decision in going up in weight to fight a true welterweight and living legend in Oscar De La Hoya. This may be a Mexican he cannot defeat!

Pregnancy and breastfeeding - tips for a balanced diet

Pregnancy and breastfeeding - tips for a balanced diet

The most critical thing about dietary requirements during pregnancy is that you should start to consider these BEFORE conception. Critical development of your baby starts at conception. Eating well before pregnancy will give your body a good store of nutrients for your baby to draw on during pregnancy.

The objective is to ensure that your body has all of the nutrients it needs for optimum health. It is important to eat from all of the main food groups as no single food can provide all of the essential nutrients that the body needs. This is why the need for a ‘balanced’ diet is often emphasised.
There are two areas to consider:
1. Getting the appropriate amount of calories, a balance between the calories that you eat and the calories that you burn.
2. Consuming a combination of various essential nutrients in the correct proportions, this will lead to good nutrition.

These essential nutrients are grouped as follows:
· Carbohydrates
· Fats
· Fibre
· Minerals
· Protein
· Vitamins
· Water

Obtaining a balance of these nutrients means eating a variety of foods from all of the five basic food groups in the correct proportions, no single food can provide all of the essential nutrients that the body needs. The western diet today tends to have too much fat and too little fibre for some a small shift can mean a major health benefit.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) uses the commonly accepted food groups to describe a healthy diet:
· Bread, potatoes and other cereals
· Fruit and vegetables
· Milk and dairy products
· Meat, fish and alternatives
· Foods containing fats; foods and drinks containing sugars

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) describes these dietary guidelines through its new food pyramid; MyPyramid. It’s food grouping is fairly similar, although broadly speaking the fruit and vegetables is spilt into two groups instead of one.

Whichever way these groups are split, eliminating one food group from your diet could risk developing a nutrient imbalance and deficiencies.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provide dietary guidelines that describe a healthy diet as one that:
· Emphasises fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low fat milk and milk products
· Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts
· Is low in saturated fats, transfats, cholesterol, salt and added sugars

Recommendations are very similar from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the UK.

During pregnancy your requirements for calories and nutrients change, the requirements for nutrients double but the calorific need only increases 15% so it is important to make sure that what you eat counts!

Key tips:
· A good variety of food intake
· Plenty of fruits, grains and vegetables
· Ensure EFA levels are adequate
· Drink at least 6 – 8 glasses of water a day
· Reduce fat intake, especially saturated and trans fatty acids
· Reduce sugar intake
· Reduce salt intake
· Eliminate alcohol, smoking and drugs

Vegans and vegetarians do not need to worry as long as their diets are well-balanced; careful planning may be required. If it is not then there may be a need for supplementation to boost necessary nutrients or vitamins. The requirements for Vitamin B12 (found in manufactured foods), Vitamin D (may just require extra doses of sunshine!), iron, zinc and calcium all increase during pregnancy and this can lead to deficiency if not corrected.
Another often forgotten nutrient is omega3 fatty acids, this plays an important role in brain function and development. Some women can enter pregnancy already deficient in this important nutrient; sources include fatty fish, flax seed and walnuts. But be careful of certain fish and their mercury content.

Make the most of pregnancy and breastfeeding by eating a balanced diet.

How to Manage Depression Short of Having Octuplets

How to Manage Depression Short of Having Octuplets
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Phyllis_Goldberg,_Ph.D.]Phyllis Goldberg, Ph.D.

Nadya Suleman is a 33 year old unemployed single mother who recently gave birth to octuplets, conceived through in vitro fertilization. She grew up as an only child and had always dreamed of having a large family. Reporters, pundits and bloggers have called her irresponsible and selfish, as she already has six children under the age of seven at home. They say it takes more than love to care for eight babies, especially if you don't have a clear source of income or enough support to help raise them.

The doctor who implanted the fertilized eggs is being investigated by the medical board. The risk of such a pregnancy is not only to the mother but also for the babies. There are potential physical problems that will need to be carefully monitored over the coming years. Likely there will be psychological issues to deal with as well. Even though Suleman loves being a mom, there are 14 children and only one of her. She can't do it alone. It's not possible for her to take care of the emotional needs of that many growing children. The potential developmental delays and learning disabilities will require adjunctive therapies. And the long term costs will be significant. Meanwhile, the hospital bill alone will run well over $2 million.

Suleman called her childhood dysfunctional and said she didn't feel that she had much control over her environment. Almost everyone has some identity issues or feelings of powerlessness growing up. If you are depressed or need to take better care of your emotional self, begin by following these tips:

1. Notice if you are in denial about your emotional state of mind. What are you doing that may not be in your best interests? And why? For example, if you're thinking about getting pregnant, it could be a short term solution to help lift your spirits. And this could leave you with other longstanding problems for yourself and your family

2. Honor your body by understanding what makes you feel better, both physically and emotionally. Pay attention to your exercise routine, what you eat, your sleeping habits and what gives you pleasure. Reduce the situations that cause stress and increase the ones that make you feel more relaxed or alive.

3. Forgive others who are important to you for some past wrongdoing. Watch their reaction and see how that makes you feel. That doesn't mean you have to totally forget about it. If you had a dysfunctional upbringing, try to understand the problems it is causing you now. Learn a lesson from the situation and move on, especially for your own good.

4. Practice what you know about resiliency. Recognize how your character strengths support what you do. Integrate your core values and personal ideals into how you view the world. Notice the effect your attitudes and behavior have on other people in your life. Release tension through laughter and watch yourself begin to bounce back.

5. Knowledge is power. Use it to your advantage. Get information about ways to deal with how you're feeling - explore the Internet or the self-help section of bookstores. Think about the natural and logical consequences of the decisions you are making. Talk about how you are feeling with friends and family whose opinions you respect.

6. Support is a valuable tool - connect often. Accept the changes in your family, whatever they are, even if you feel caught in the crossfire. Find a class or workshop through your local university extension program or mental health center. Join an ongoing group or attend a weekend retreat to share concerns and gain new perspective.

7. You may be confused about what to do next. Don't be afraid to seek out a parenting coach or a family therapist. Although you may see yourself as a natural, this is a unique situation. Learning skills and techniques from experts can make a big difference and talking with someone outside of the family about your concerns and frustrations can be a lifesaver.

All Suleman ever wanted was to be a mom: "I longed for certain connections and attachments with another person that I really lacked, I believe, growing up." She thinks that motherhood cured her depression. But child birth should not be used as a form of self- medication.

If your feelings of depression stem from a hunger inside that needs to be satisfied or a serious emotional problem, take the time to examine your own life. That will give you the chance to focus on greater personal awareness and your own emotional growth without jeopardizing the well being of others.

How to Stop a Divorce After You've Been Unfaithful

How to Stop a Divorce After You've Been Unfaithful
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marcy_Cook]Marcy Cook

If you are on the edge of divorce but still love your spouse there are many ways you can stop your divorce before it's too late. It all depends on why your spouse wants the divorce in the first place. If you are the cause of the divorce because of your infidelity then this article will address some things you should and shouldn't do.

If you really want to stop a divorce you have to start taking responsibility for your actions.

Start by being honest with yourself. How likely is it that you will stray again? Maybe you are straying because you are not getting something from your spouse that you need. Or maybe you are a cheating spouse just because it is your nature and it is very likely you will do it again.

If you are not getting something that you need from your spouse then you need to say that to your partner. Don't tell them you will never stray again because the fact is until you get what you need from your spouse you will not be able to remain faithful.

You may need to go to couples counseling to get down to the root cause of your infidelity and what your spouse is not giving you. In that type of a setting you can both be calm and cool and a counselor can help you wade through all the "double talk" that couples often use to communicate with each other.

Many times just by your suggesting couples counseling you can stop a divorce in its tracks. And, the benefits you receive from the counselor will put you both on track to giving each other what you need to move forward and never stray again.

On the other hand if you have been unfaithful just because that is who you are, but you still want to stop your divorce, then you are going to have to work even harder. You are going to have to prove that you are totally trustworthy. Couples counseling will also work in this situation but the work is going to be on your part. After all, your spouse didn't do anything - you did!

If you have been unfaithful just because that's" who you are" ...then face up to reality and be honest with your spouse. Tell them that is who you think you are. But, let's be real...you weren't born that way. Now you must find out why you cheat and then work to change that in yourself.

It's not enough to tell your spouse you will change. She or he won't believe it anyway. As the saying goes - actions speak louder than words. You are going to have to do a number of things to regain your spouse's trust.

1.) Own up to your spouse - tell them what you did and why
2.) Show them you have changed - don't tell them - SHOW THEM!
3.) Seek as much relationship advice as you can.
4.) Don't get upset or argue when your spouse shows they still can't trust you.
5.) Get used to the fact that you have to earn your spouse's respect and trust.

By showing that you are making a very big effort to change, your spouse will gradually begin to trust you again and you can [http://www.magic-of-makingup.net/]stop your divorce. It takes time though. Be patient. If you really want to stop your divorce you will have to go through a lot before your spouse can accept the fact that you have changed.

Ten ways to re-motivate yourself fast

Ten ways to re-motivate yourself fast

The past few weeks have been sort of unproductive for me, mostly because of certain distractions that for the most part were beyond my control (scheduling problems, personal things that needed attention, the usual)

Now I look back and say “how could let myself do this?” I feel as if I accomplished very little, and it’s time to buckle down again, put nose to the grindstone, and get some serious work done! But, how do I do it?

What I need is a way to get “super-motivated”, so I came up with a list of ways to really pile on the motivation. I came up with 10 pretty good ones, most of which I already was utilizing at least some of the time. Let me know if you have some more, I’m always trying to extend this list!

#1 – Change your routine - wake up earlier and be more productive. I usually try to get up at least one hour before l must leave for work, in order to do some quick exercises, go over my plan for the day, and make sure I’m ready to rock n’ roll first thing. I like to change this routine occasionally, so I don’t get in a rut. Even making an extra 20-25 minutes to prepare can leave you in a better mood to start the day.

#2 – Listen to motivational audio on the way to work. Or, if you work at home as I do sometimes, listen as you get ready to work. There are many motivational CD recordings out there, I use ones from Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, or Bob Proctor, but there are many good ones out there.

#3 – List to inspirational music! I don’t know about you, but nothing gets my blood pumping faster than great music that I love, such as some good Eric Clapton, Green Day, or other hard rock. But anything you have an emotional connection with will work, it’s like magic to pick up your mood.

#4 – Utilize self-talk or affirmations. I do a whole list of affirmations in the mornings, and usually at night as well. But any kind of positive self-talk can really motivate you if used correctly, it’s what you say to yourself that makes the difference.

#5 – Stay away from negative people. This may sound kind of cruel or unkind, but hey, let’s be honest. If you any friends that are really bringing you down, you must either let them know about it and hope they change, or stay away. Life is too short to hang around negative people, and don’t’ think it won’t affect you because eventually it will!

#6 – Take a positive action. Think about what you have been meaning to start, or stop recently. Something you have been putting off, maybe? Take that trip to the gym, start that new diet, finish that book you started 6 months ago, anything really. Just taking a positive direction towards something makes you feel more in control of things, which boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem.

#7 – Start an exercise routine. Ok, I kind of covered this in the last point but it’s really important. This is critical to your physical and mental health, exercise is not an option it is a mandate. If you exercise regularly you will automatically add many years to your life and improve your outlook on life.

#8 – Try zero-based thinking. This is a simple but powerful concept to change your thought process. Is there anything in your life that you would stop doing, looking at the big picture? If you had to go back and do it again, would you? This can apply to a business, a hobby, a girlfriend/boyfriend, a choice you made on something that takes your time and energy. If you wouldn’t do it again, stop doing it now!

#9 – Reevaluate your schedule. Take a serious look at every little thing you do every day for a week. Are you wasting a significant amount of time doing something of little value? Either eliminate if from your life, or drastically cut down on this task or habit. Sometimes just rearranging your schedule can save you time as well, such as doing a “high-value” task early in the day while you’re wide awake and full of energy instead of after lunch when you’re tired.

#10 – Reward yourself. Sometimes it really helps to reward yourself after making a great effort. Why? Because psychologically a reward gives us a boost of pleasure after something that takes extra effort, which will encourage us to do it again. Sounds like “psyching” yourself out, right? Yes, you can fool yourself, although don’t take it to extremes or you will be doing more rewarding than working on moving forward.

These are just a few suggestions, I’m sure you can get creative and think of more. In fact I would encourage it! The more you can get in the habit of boosting your motivation, the more you will accomplish. In turn, you will boost your confidence in reaching the goals you have set for yourself and move faster and farther than you ever thought possible!

To your continued success and happiness!

The Eyes of A Foreigner, Filipino Catholics

The Eyes of A Foreigner, Filipino Catholics

Filipino Catholics

Here's something very positive written by a foreign named Steve Ray,about Filipinos. Steve Ray authored many best-selling books, among which are, Crossing The Tiber (his conversion story), Upon This Rock (on the papacy), and just recently John's Gospel (a comprehensive bible study guide and commentary).

Steve Ray's Open Letter To The Filipino Catholics:
We stepped into the church and it was old and a bit dark. Mass had just begun and we sat toward the front.. We didn't know what to expect here in Istanbul , Turkey . I guess we expected it to be a sombre Mass but quiet and sombre it was not - I thought I heard angels joyously singing behind me. The voices were rich, melodic and beautiful. What I discovered as I spun around to look did not surprise me because I had seen and heard the same thing in other churches around the world. It was not a choir of angels with feathered wings and halos but a group of delightful Filipino Catholics wit smiles of delight and joy on their faces as they
worshiped God and sang His praises.

I had seen this many times before in Rome , in Israel ,in the United States and other countries. Filipinos have special traits and they are beautifully expressed as I gazed at the happy throng giving thanks to God. What are the special traits which characterize these happy people? I will share a few that I have noticed- personal observations- as I have traveled around the world,
including visits to the Philippines

FIRST, there is a sense of community, of family. These Filipino Christians did not sit apart from each other in different isles. They sat together, closely. They didn't just sing quietly, mumbling, or simply mouthing the words. No, they raised their voices in harmony together as though they enjoyed the sense of unity and communion among them. They are family even if they are not related.

SECOND, they have an inner peace and joy which is rare in the world today. When most of the world's citizens are worried and fretful, I have found Filipinos to have joy and peace - a deep sense of God's love that over shadows them. They have problems too, and many in the Philippines have less material goods than others in the world, yet there is still a sense of happy trust in God and love of neighbor.

THIRD, there is a love for God and for his Son Jesus that is almost synonymous with the word Filipino. There is also something that Filipinos are famous for around the world - their love for the Blessed Mother. Among the many Filipinos I have met, the affectionate title forMary I always hear from their lips is "Mama Mary." For these gentle folks Mary is not just a heological idea, a historical person, or a statue in a church - Mary is the mother of their Lord and their mother as well, their "mama." The Philippines is a Catholic nation-the only such nation in Asia -and this wonderful country exports missionaries around the world. They are not hired to be missionaries, not official workers of the church. No, they are workers and educators, doctors, nurses and housekeepers that go to other lands and travel to the far reaches of the earth,
and everywhere they go they take the joyous gospel of Jesus with them. They make a sombre Mass joyful when they burst into song. They convict the pagan of sin as they always keep the love of Jesus and the Eucharist central in their lives. My hope and prayer, while I am here in the Philippines sharing my conversion story from Baptist Protestant to Roman Catholic,
is that the Filipino people will continue to keep these precious qualities. I pray that they will continue loving their families, loving the Catholic Church, reading the Bible, loving Jesus, His Mother and the Eucharist. As many other religions and sects try to persuade them to leave the Church, may God give the wisdom to defend the Catholic faith. As the world tempts them to sin and seek only money and fame and power, may God grant them the serenity to always remember that obedience to Christ and love for God is far more important than all the riches the world can offer. May the wonderful Filipino people continue to be a light of the Gospel to the whole world!

Top 5 Valentine's Day Gift Mistakes

Top 5 Valentine's Day Gift Mistakes
By Mansi gupta

Mad rush in the markets especially gift shops, young and old people biting their teeth wondering what would be an ideal gift for their loved ones is a common sight in the month of February.

For in the middle of the month comes the great Valentines Day occasion that is perhaps celebrated by all lovebirds across the globe.

Valentines Day is the day of love and affection. It is a day devoted to all those who are delighting in a blissful romantic relationship as well to those who either desire to inaugurate or stand on the verge to commence one such liaison.

However in both the cases the manner to express your feelings holds primary significance. The choice of the gift should be such that it speaks your loving and caring heart. Many times huge and expensive gifts are not able to do that while economical things such as flowers readily solve the purpose. So it is better to be careful, avoid some of the common gift mistakes and make a prudent choice of gift. For example

1. People on the occasion of Valentines Day largely prefer Greeting Cards or E-cards. It is because they feel that writing down their feelings is the best mode to express it. Consequently the prices of Valentines Day cards touch the sky.

Cards definitely make a good Valentines Day gift but not as good as gifting a bouquet of beautiful flowers. For a card once read is of no further use. It then finds its place inside the drawer or in between the pages of a book. Whereas flowers that embellish and fill your room with fragrance are kept in front of your eyes till they dry out.

Moreover flowers do not require to be hidden from parents like cards that bear the name and feelings of the concerned person.

2. Gifting pricey mementos or souvenirs on Valentines Day is also not a wise choice. Firstly because of the expense you incur. Secondly the trouble you face and the time that is wasted in wandering from one gift shop to another.

Gifting flowers saves both your precious time and money because flowers can be easily chosen for any occasion (For instance red roses have always been emblems of love) and are not very expensive. Flowers can be conveniently sent to the desired destination through Internet too.

3. Most often guys and gals gift weight -reducing books to their beloveds. This is certainly not a judicious Valentines Day gift. Because it makes the other person feel conscious of his/her looks and of that fact that you desire to see changes in him/her. It presents your love in a ‘looks’ oriented manner.

So rather than hurting or annoying your loved ones on this day, it is better to gift them flowers that can be kept as a token of you love for long. All the changes that you want in your partner (weight loss etc.) can be taught later but on the very day of love and affection.

4. Gifting ugly looking clothes is quite popular Valentines Day gift. Since the gifts for these occasion are mostly taken clandestinely, the clothes so purchased hardly fit the concerned person. It thus turns out be a gift that is good for nothing.

5. Soft toys such as teddy bears; Barbie dolls etc. are also useless gifts for Valentines Day. Because the craze for these costly things lasts only for a few days or even 24 hours! Ultimately these bears and dolls are placed amongst their other companions.

While flowers have their own warmth and affection. The tender buds and petals best display your loving heart that is brimming with love like the nectar in the flowers.
