The Writer's Prayer

The Writer's Prayer
by Sandy Tritt

Let us pray that we may be guided by our Lord the Almighty on every strokes of our fingers in our keyboard as we shape a literary composition before our eyes in our monitor, and before we click the "Publish" button in our window screen, let us contemplate on the simple prayer written by Sandy Tritt.

The Writer's Prayer

Open my mind, Lord.
Grant me the talent to write
with clarity and style,
so my words go down rich and smooth,
like fine wine, and leave my reader thirsty for more.

Open my heart, Lord.
Grant me the sensitivity
to understand my characters,
their hopes, their wants, their dreams;
and help me to confer that empathy to my reader.

Open my soul, Lord,
so I may be a channel to wisdom
and creativity from beyond my Self.
Stoke my imagination with vivid imagery
and vibrant perception.

But most of all, Lord,
help me to know the Truth,
so my fiction is more honest than actuality
and reaches the depths of my reader's soul.

Wrap these gifts with opportunity,
perseverance, and the strength
to resist those who insist it can't be done.

May this prayer be a guide of each responsible writer. We have the freedom to express our thought. We have to consider also the right of others. Though we might be right in our opinion. But we have to know the fact. If it meant for some, don't generalize.

Let us bring joy and hope for our readers. Let us share Love and Peace for the wearies.

What is Ramadan? Fasting 2009

What is Ramadan? Fasting 2009

Ramadan is the act when Muslims all over the world must ritually fast and abstain from certain acts or foods and liquids which are prohibited during this holy time of year. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam which all Muslims are expected to follow, the other four pillars of Islam are Faith (Shahadah); Prayer (Salah), Charitable Giving (Zakah), and the holy Pilgrimage to Makkah (Hajj). Ramadan takes place during the 9th month in the Islamic calendar and will therefore differ from year to year when using the more common 12 month calendar than the Islamic lunar calendar. Ramadan lasts for 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the new moon.

Fasting begins from sunrise to sunset. When a Muslim first begins to fast they will tend to wake up before sunrise to eat, this is known as Sehri or Suhoor. Often in Muslim households, there will be a generous breakfast before sunrise, as eating and drinking is not allowed. When sunset approaches and it is nearing the time for the fast to be opened some Muslims will gather to have Iftari parties to open their fasts together. Families come together and even extended families so this is also a great time for get together. It is customary to open your fasts with dates as this was what the Prophet Mohammed (PBH) is said to have eaten to open his fast with.

Fasting is much more than denying yourself food or drinks. It is a time of spiritual reflection and prayer. During this month Muslims will be thinking of others who are less fortunate than themselves, those from all over the world who have extreme difficulty even finding food or are in poverty. Muslims should also spend this time reflecting about their religion and what it means to them. Prayer is important during Ramadan and is used to focus a Muslims spiritual belief towards their God and pray for thanks for all that they have and for others all over the world who are less fortunate as no matter how badly you may feel that your present circumstances may be, there will always be someone worse off.

Some guidelines for fasting during the holy month of Ramadan:

No eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset
No chewing gum
No smoking (or other type of drugs or alcohol which is not permitted any ways in Islam)
No sexual contact
Not allowed for women during menstrual period
Not required of the mentally ill or those of physical ill health
Not partaking in activities which are considered haram
Not required of children until they reach puberty

Helpful advice for fasting during the holy month of Ramadan:

It is advisable to drink plenty of water before starting your fasts
Try to avoid strenuous exercise that could cause you to perspire too much. Without the ability to drink to replenish the liquid lost you will be endangering your health which could cause you to even faint or feel physically unwell. Exercise in the evening after you open your fasts.
Avoid foods such as potato chips (crisps) or other salty or dry foods which could cause you to get very thirsty later in the day
Avoid direct sunlight when possible as perspiration could cause you to get very thirsty or make you faint/ unwell.

When Ramadan has finished and the fasting has ceased, Eid ul Fitr is celebrated. It is anticipated all month and is celebrated differently all over the world but the general feelings are on family and the local religious community. Usually families will gather at the house of the senior member of the family and gifts of cash or clothes are given to the children. As the festivities carry on through out the day and night, this will mark the end of a very special time of the year in the Muslim calendar.

Ramadan is the act when Muslims all over the world must ritually fast and abstain from certain acts or foods and liquids which are prohibited during this holy time of year. Fasting is much more than denying yourself food or drinks. It is a time of spiritual reflection and prayer.

Hannah S. Cordoviz is her real name or Baby Hannah. Born on August 14, 2007. Hannah is a cute and energetic kid as you can see, but she was afflicted with Congenital Central Hypoventilation (CCHS). In laymen term the nerve center that is supposed to make her breath in not functioning well. The doctor had to cut a hole in her throat in order to put a Tracheostomy Tube and attached it with a Respirator to keep her breathing.

Due to her very delicate condition, which requires 24/7 care, her parent were force to resigned from their respective jobs. To cover up her mediation, hospitalization and nurse, not to mention their daily needs, they make Rosary and sell it from their online store

It is truly difficult for a parent to see their child suffering from such illness. In spite of the trials, they still put their trust in the Lord. They believe that God has a plan and a mission for them. And their mission is to propagate prayers.

Cory Aquino A Woman of Faith

Cory Aquino A Woman of Faith

President Corazon Aquino, or Tita Cory, has many good virtues that we can consider her as a hero. But what made her most remarkable qualities was her unwavering faith in God. She was a woman of faith. Her source of strength is from the Lord, the moment that Ninoy Aquino was assassinated, her government threatened until her battling with colon cancer. Neither she never gave up nor blamed the Lord. Instead thanking Him for the blessing, for the strength, compassion to her countrymen and for our country. In Tita Cory website, she wrote prayers from 1994-2004. Thank you Tita Cory for your unfailing love to our nation!

Prayer for a Happy Death
by Corazon Aquino (2004)

Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
You alone know the hour
You alone know the moment When I shall breathe my last.

So, remind me each day, most loving Father
To be the best that I can be.
To be humble, to be kind, To be patient, to be true.
To embrace what is good, To reject what is evil, To adore only You.

When the final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long.
Let them comfort each other
And let them know how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me, As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray for each other.

Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to the world.
And let them realize that our separation
Is just for a short
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.

Our Father in heaven,
You alone are my hope.
You alone are my salvation.
Thank you for your unconditional love, Amen.

True Color of Friendship

True Color of Friendship

I reading the updates of news today in ABS-CBN site. I was so impressed with Kris Aquino message in the Buzz, "The former president Joseph Estrada earned her respect." Habang binabasa ko ang article ay lalo ako pinahanga nga dating president. President Cory Aquino was one of the people that supported GMA during EDSA 2, that ousted President Estrada.

I told to myself "this is the perfect time that politicians will take advantage of the publicity". Well my opinion was quenched by
Kris message. Despite of Tita Cory big participation in EDSA-2, President Estrada and his family still give their support to the Aquino family until the last moment of their mother's life. Estrada keep his promise to respect the privacy of the Aquino. He tried not to reveal the truth conversation between him and Tita Cory. Instead divert to the story to the children. Kris Aquino appreciate most what Estrada have done. By being there in time of need and set aside their differences.

The Aquino family also thank the Marcoses for their prayer support. We all known that Marcos was once Ninoy Aquino's political rivalry. So as Ma'am Cory ousted President Marcos during snap election that led to Peoples Power Revolution.

In this time of grief for the lost of our former President Cory, we can say that there are still true and honest friends. The beauty of Cory's death is that weather the color is yellow, red or green they have been united by one true color of friendship.
