"The Labor Ministry announced on Saturday that it would continue to accept applications from undocumented expats to legalize their status despite the end of the amnesty on Nov. 3. However, it insisted that such workers have to pay fines or face other penal measures for the delay in legalizing their status. Faisal Al-Otaibi, director-general of inspections at the ministry, also pointed out that it would not accept any request for exemptions from raids being carried out by the ministry and security officials to rid the country of labor law violators. “The correction process is continuing and those who want to legalize their status can do so through our electronic services and labor offices,” he said."

Al-Turki was speaking at a joint press conference with Deputy Labor Minister Mufrej bin Saad Al-Haqbani to announce the end of the amnesty period from Monday. He said that expatriates to be considered for final exit should not have any criminal record and that these workers will not be able to come back to the Kingdom for employment in future since they will be fingerprinted at departure points. He said this arrangement has been made in response to requests from several embassies who say they do not have any documents to support the original entry of many of their citizens. Speaking with Arab News following the press conference, Al-Haqbani thanked foreign workers who have participated in the development of the Kingdom. "

Naseem Ahmad, an Indian worker, told Arab News: “I have taken my EC from the embassy and will go to the deportation center on Sunday to collect the exit paper to go back home.” Aijaz Cheema, a Pakistani, expressed concern that problems continue to crop up at various stages of the process and especially in recording biometric details, which he said is time-consuming.
